Jorpokhri Homestay

Jorpokhri Homestay offers a serene retreat in a small lake village on a hilltop in the Darjeeling district, near Lepchajagat. Situated approximately 23 kilometers from the charming town of Darjeeling, Jorpokhri derives its name from the two lakes it surrounds; ‘Jor’ means two and ‘Pokhri’ means lake. This picturesque village provides breathtaking views of Mount Kanchenjunga and other snow-capped ranges. Located just above the bustling town of Sukhiapokhri, Jorpokhri is a peaceful and romantic destination.

The journey from Siliguri to Jorpokhri is a delightful experience, passing through lush green landscapes and tea gardens. The last two kilometers wind through dense forest, leading to a flat expanse where the two beautifully decorated lakes are the main attraction. Visitors can spend the day enjoying the lakes, mountains, and tranquility. Nearby, a short walk leads to the Lord Shiva temple, and a brief trip can take you to Pashupati Nath Market at the Nepal border, Ghoom, and Darjeeling.

For accommodation, the newly built Jorpokhri Homestay is ideal, offering four spacious rooms with modern amenities. Two rooms feature views of Kanchenjunga and the lakes, while the other two provide scenic nature views towards Mirik. All rooms are cozy and equipped with attached Western baths, geysers, and satellite TV. The tariff is ₹1,500 per person per day, inclusive of all meals.

Meal timings are as follows:
– Morning Tea: 6.00 AM – 7.30 AM
– Breakfast: 8.00 AM – 9.30 AM
– Lunch: 1.00 PM – 2.30 PM
– Evening Tea: 5.30 PM – 7.00 PM
– Dinner: 8.30 PM – 9.30 PM

A bonfire can be arranged with prior notice and additional cost. Transportation is available from NJP, Siliguri, and Bagdogra, with the journey from Siliguri to Jorpokhri taking about three hours via Dudhia and Mirik, or around the same time via Kurseong and Ghoom. From Darjeeling, Jorpokhri can be reached in about an hour via Ghoom, Lepchajagat, and Sukhia Pokhari.

Jorpokhri can be visited year-round, but the best time to visit is from October to April for the clearest views of Mount Kanchenjunga.
