Located conveniently for exploring the attractions of the Gorubathan region and the charming town of Kalimpong, about a three-hour drive away, it offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by tea gardens, rivers, and orchards. The village is largely pollution-free, with minimal vehicle traffic.
Humro Home Molomulee Homestay, a single-storeyed residence with five rooms accommodating up to ten guests, provides a comfortable stay. The dining and kitchen area is separate from the main house, and the homestay features a well-decorated sitting area filled with natural light. The property is enveloped in lush greenery and boasts a greenhouse where organic vegetables are grown. Colorful flowers and exotic fruits, including passion fruit, avocados, and peaches, add to its charm. A small man-made water body behind the house offers a serene spot for evening tea.
Each room has a modern attached washroom, with hot water provided in buckets. Located 4 km from Gorubathan bazaar, the homestay is accessible by vehicle, with ample parking available. Guests can explore the village, visit a nearby brightly painted church, and see the Kabir Math and a 200-year-old stupa.
Nearby attractions include Ambiok viewpoint, the Chhel river hanging bridge, Upper Fagu Chorten, and Jhandi viewpoint, all accessible with a local guide. For adventurers, treks to Dalim fort, Panchpokhri, and Chhangey falls are recommended, while others might prefer a drive to these spots. Beekeeping activities on the banks of the Neora river and a visit to the Mission Hill tea garden to learn about tea-making are also available.
At an altitude of 3800 feet, Gorubathan Tar enjoys moderate summer temperatures of 21-27 degrees Celsius and winter temperatures ranging from 7-19 degrees Celsius. August is the warmest month, and January the coldest, with warm clothing needed only in peak winter. An umbrella is advisable during the summer due to common rains.
